Kloof Holidays - Durban, KwaZulu Natal
Kloof, which is situated in the Durban Metro Area of KwaZulu Natal, is a picturesque, leafy, upmarket village 25km west of the Durban Beachfront CBD. Kloof lies at the top of Field's Hill, which is on the route for the world-famous Comrades Marathon, run annually between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial capital. A word of caution, if you want to stay in Kloof during the Comrades Marathon, be sure to book early, as accommodation in Kloof can be scarce, despite the fact that there is a diverse range of Kloof Bed & Breakfast accommodation and Kloof Self Catering accommodation.
Just 4kms from the centre of Kloof, the beautiful Krantzkloof Nature Reserve with its dense indigenous forest and series of cascades and waterfalls, contributes to the lush Kloof mist belt. Because Kloof is situated in the heart of the 1000 Hills experience, its a magnet for eco-tourists, but is also a welcome retreat for business executives visiting the nearby industrial areas of Pinetown, New Germany and Hammarsdale. Naturally the luxurious area of Kloof offers only the very best Where to Stay accommodation, although Pinetown accommodation and New Germany Bed & Breakfast accommodation is probably more affordable..
For the golfer, the Kloof Country Club offers a wonderful golf course situated in the verdant hills of Kloof. With a combination of dining, recreational and conference facilities, the Kloof Country Club's facilities are virtually unequalled in the Durban Area. The Kloof Country Club offers a good test of skill, and is generally in immaculate condition due to the climate in the Kloof area.
Make time for nearby points of interest in the Kloof Durban Area:
- The Umgeni Steam Railway (0.10km), which is dedicated to the preservation of steam locomotives.
- Paradise Valley Nature Reserve (3.45km and located near Pinetown), offers a number of graded trails and picnic and braai sites on the banks of the Durban Area Umbilo River.
- The Marianhill Monastery (3.45km), lying in the "valley of the monks" located near Pinetown, is open to both religious and lay people seeking spiritual guidance, enrichment and renewal.
- Hillcrest's Heritage Market (5.93km), consists of a series of green-roofed, Victorian-style buildings set in an abundance of rose gardens. This beautiful and spacious setting in the heart of Hillcrest makes for a relaxed and enjoyable outdoor shopping experience.
For business people who wish for easy access to the industrial sites near to Kloof should consider the following categories on Where to Stay : Kloof Bed and Breakfast accommodation; Pinetown Bed and Breakfast accommodation, Westville B&B accommodation and Hillcrest accommodation. Slightly further afield Gillits Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Visitors who bring along families and are looking for accommodation in Kloof Highway area may consider some of the Kloof Self Catering and Hillcrest Self Catering options. Rates for Self Catering in kloof will be more competitive for larger groups
